This is my 85 GLH N/A (naturally aspriated). Stock the N/A
GLH runs about a 17flat 1/4 mile, which in comparison to other performance cars
from the late 70s and early 80s such as Camaros and Mustangs is a bit slower.
All the ads in the early 80s from Mopar raved about how the GLH, Shelby Charger,
Daytonas, and even Rampages were able to eat up and spit out the Z28s, Mustang
GTs, and Firebirds, most of the performance cars from this era ran in the mid
16s stock with over 2 times the size of motor, but barely anymore hp out of that
"V8". I have approximately 160 flywheel hp with about 125hp getting to
the ground. The stock clutch can't handle this much power very well and after a
few banzai runs the clutch gets warm and slips, the Turbo car clutch and
flywheel will make a big difference in my times. The day I got my GLH it
looked like hell, the brakes worked like crap, rust holes in the bottoms of the
front doors, had stock Daytona wheels on it, was filthy inside and out, look how
far it's come with my bit of backyard bodywork and TLC. The spots where I did
the bodywork you can see in person, but not from a few feet away, not too bad
for not even owning a garage eh? My GLH has 104,000 miles on it, has blue
interior (well it did at least), factory cassette, had cruise, 15" GLH
pizza rims with 205/50/15s, and the 110hp HO 2.2 SOHC engine coupled to a 5-spd
manual trans. Total mods to date of 9-18-99 include: K+N air filter on
carb, Mopar Performance carb car computer, Wells Gold cap and rotor, fresh
Champion RN9YC plugs, Mopar Performance cam #P4452767 (.460 lift, 240/248
duration), Mopar Performance sintered followers, Holley 6520 staged 2bbl
mechanical secondary carb with feedback solenoid unhooked jetted at 287
primary/455 secondary, Hooker 1.75" primaries/2.5" collector header,
2.25" header back exhaust with Dynomax Super Turbo muffler, Mopar
Performance front motor mount, FM/ASP anodized aluminum underdrive pulley, Mopar
Performance plug wires, Custom fab cowl induction style hood, Ported intake
manifold, Momo pedals, Carbon Fibre shift knob on shortened shifter, Accel
SuperStock coil, wider than stock 205/50/15s.
