My car is a 67 Dodge
Monaco 500, 2 door hardtop, with a 383 4 bbl. I bought the car about a
year ago mainly for the motor and tranny. When I got her she was a
depressing bronze color, primered fenders and a
mutilated white vinyl top. Thought if I could get it
running, I might just drive it for a while for daily transportation. It
had been setting for 5 years and I could barely keep it running to drive
it home. I did a major tune-up on it, plugs, points, wires, and cap. Much
to my surprise, she cranked up and ran like a dream. So, I started driving
it to work every day. The more I drove it the more I fell in love with it.
Once I got it mechanically sound I started working on the body. I tossed
the vinyl top and gave it a coat of intense blue. The next thing on the
agenda will be the interior. I think she is coming along beautifully. She
is a great highway cruiser and now I couldn't imagine yanking the motor
out and scraping the body. I've always been more of a B-body guy, But
there is a lot to be said for big block C-body cruisers.
