My truck is a 1966
Dodge A-100. It was totally stock when I bought it for $700. It took
about seven years of part time work to construct. A 1/8" steel plate
"U" frame was installed over the original unibody frame to
strengthen the chassis.
The engine is a
1968 426 Street Hemi with a 6-71 blower with two Holley 600 carbs.
The transmission is a 727 hemi unit with a short tailshaft assembly
driving into a New Process P204 transfer case which "V" drives back
into an 8-3/4" Posi rear axle with 3:23 ratio (6:46 Effective
ratio w/transfer in low range) Ring & pinion rotate in reverse with
this setup.
A large four
core radiator and electric fan are located in the original engine
doghouse in the cab. I did all the work at home except the bodywork
and paint. The truck was driven to Carlisle in 1996 (600 miles) and
got 10.6 MPG on the interstate. It's a fun street driver, gets taken
to a couple of car shows each year and running it through the gears
is great therapy after a hard day at the office.
Thanks
