1967 Dodge Monaco By Ed Rusk

I was looking for a Mopar to restore when I came across this one.  She is a 1967 Dodge Monaco fastop.  I was at the Vancouver Auto Auction when I saw her being run in the "As Is" lane and to my surprise nobody bid on her.  I found the guy that was selling her and we struck a deal.  He told me that he was selling her for a friend of his that was in his early 80's.  I took her home and gave her a minor tune up and she ran like a dream with power to spare.

When I got her she had some minor surface rust on the rear quarters and a few dents here and there.  I phoned the guy who sold me the car and he put me in contact with the original owner.  I met him for a coffee and some conversation about his old car.  He told me he bought the car brand new in Calgary and that he had to factory order it because he wanted a rear end that was good for towing once in a while. The rear end that he ordered was a 4:10, that would explain why she is so quick out of the hole and not so good on the highway and terrible at passing gas stations.  He brought with him his old metal warranty card with his name on it and an original brochure featuring the car when it was new with all the options you could order.

With some body work and a paint job she really turned out nice. She has a 383/345HP factory dual exhaust and a dual snorkel air cleaner.  I've seen a few like her but never one like her because she has the 383 emblems on both of her front fenders just behind the wheel wells just like in the brochure that the old guy gave me. She has a white split bench interior and I painted her in her original copper color, this combination really brings out her lines and is very appealing to me and to everyone that sees her.

I was looking for a B-Body to restore but the more I drive her the more I like this big C-Body Classic.  This car is a classic that should be remembered and I'm glad that I gave her back some of her youth because she has done that for me.
