1970 Dodge Super Bee By Todd Lewis

1970 Dodge Super Bee By Todd Lewis

Originally purchased in 1988 from an Air Force buddy on F.E. Warren A.F.B., Cheyenne, Wyoming. Bee was an original Plum Crazy Purple Column shifted automatic, w/ a 383 magnum. I bought it w/ the engine nearly rebuilt completely and sitting in a crate in the Base's Hobby Shop, wherey ou go to work on your cars, trucks, boats, whatever, on base!. I finished putting a few bolts on the engine, like a few head bolts and main bolts, as well as snagged a stock cast iron intake from the local bone yard for it. Best E.T. w/ the 383 that came w/ the car was a 14.8.

Got out of the Air Force in 1990, moved back to Houston w/ the Bee, and imeediately went to the boneyard to see if I could find a good 440 to rebuild. Well found a 440 in a 69 Chrysler Newport for like $135! I had to pull the engine myself, in the middle of the Texas summer heat. Was a chore, but I got it done all by myself and after a buncha buddie and me finished rebuilding the 440, the Bee went from a best E.T. of 14.8 down to 13.4. I've done a few things to the Bee since then and it SHOULD be in the 12's now!

- Torque Converter: Stock
- Rear End: Dana 60, w/ Posi 4.10:1
- Wheels: Aluminum Slots, 14 front, 15 rear w/ 255/50/15's...

- Best ET: 13.4, should be in 12's now
