This is a 1976 Dodge M-886 W-200 ex
military/hospital disaster recovery vehicle. It has a 1 1/4 ton
heavy duty military suspension with Dana 44/60 axles. I purchaced
this hospital disaster recovery vehicle after it had been retired
and sitting for years. No local disasters led this truck to be
driven in parades for years then sat with no usage at all. It has
21,000 original miles(318 ci) and runs great. It took 2 hours to get
it started the day I purchased it and I was wondering if I would
even get it home without a tow. The truck ran rough as I left the
parking lot but the further I drove it the better it ran. 15 highway
miles later, it was purring like a kitten. My driveway was flooded
with neighbors and kids wanting to check it out and see the flashing
lights. I have had nothing but fun with this vehicle since day one.
Its my understanding that only 4000 were produced over a 4 year
period.
