Mopar Of The Month February 2000:

Hello, My name is Joe and I live in Benicia California. My car is a fully restored 1970 GTX Hemi, competition orange with black landau top, black interior, and black reflector tape stripe package. I purchased the car from a local professional restorer here in the bay area. I had originally owned a 1970 GTX orange and white with a 440 magnum in high school and regrettably sold it back in 78. So when I saw this car I had to have it and with a few fisticuffs with my wife I took ownership in 98. SHE GOT DIAMONDS...hehehe!! The car came with records and receipts of restoration along with pictures of and the original owners manual and window sticker. The car sold for $3800.00 and the hemi option was a mere $800.00 more! This was a ground up restoration with undercoating applied to the undersurface however the car never sees the rain and has never been washed only waxed before drives and shows. It's a 426 hemi dual carters, auto on the column, bench seats with armrest, tick-tock dash with all the extras. A 727 tourqeflite tranny with 3:23 gears. The engine has 6,000 miles since the restoration and has never been bored but rebuilt with the newer hardened tempered hardware to accommodate the newer unleaded fuels of today. All mopar belts, hoses, clamps etc. Except the battery. The interior is original from the carpet to the headliner except the radio and the steering wheel which I hope to someday locate and restore back to originality. The paint is 90% original, the rear panel between the trunk and the rear window had to be replaced from rust damage, (water pooled at the base of the window, a common occurrence in this model). Paint was matched and looks close but can tell if your close enough and have been told. All engine paints are factory spec along with the trunk (factory spec) in fact the trunk still smells brand new when opened. Thanks for providing us Mopar fans a place to visit, learn and showcase our love of the number one muscle cars of the era!! Truly enjoyed your site and looking forward to returning again soon.

Sincerely, Joe Perrin
